The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has hailed the character of his teammates following the impressive comeback win over Sevilla during the weekend. Sevilla managed to score two goals in the first half to build a 2-0 advantage going into the first half interval. This would have meant that Barcelona would have suffered the first defeat of the season, which would have allowed Real Madrid to close the gap at the top of the table to just five points. However, two goals from Cesc Fabregas and one goal from the substitute David Villa helped Barcelona stage a remarkable comeback to maintain their perfect record this season.
Barcelona have won all the matches on the la Liga so far this campaign, while they have seen the archrivals Real Madrid suffer a lot in terms of form. This has allowed them to open an eight point advantage even at this early stage in the campaign. Prior to the match, Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has made it a priority to win this match before they take on Real Madrid in the first league El Clasico of the season. After the 3-2 comeback win, Cesc Fabregas said that he is extremely happy with the character of his teammates.
“We felt comfortable at all times. We dominated the match, but sometimes it can get complicated and we have to show our character – and that’s what we did. I’ve always been at ease. I think there are a lot of people that needed to talk, opine and write stuff but nothing is wrong. I’m tranquil because I’ve gone through rough times before and I always manage to score again. Besides, it’s much easier when you’re playing with quality players like Xavi and Lionel Messi,” said the Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who started the match ahead of regular first-team players.
